Tree care around Madison Park

Tree care for Madison Park homes and gardens

Madison Park sits along Lake Washington in Seattle, with the neighborhood’s namesake park at the eastern end of East Madison Street. Trees are part of the setting, providing shade over gardens, privacy between homes, and a backdrop to outdoor living. Tree care here starts with deciding what to retain, what to prune, and which concerns need a closer look.

A branch over a roof needs a different approach from a damaged tree behind a house. We review the tree’s condition, neighboring buildings, fences, overhead lines, and the route into your yard. On a waterfront property, shoreline conditions and applicable restrictions also matter. These details guide equipment selection, branch lowering, and debris removal.

Roof and building clearance

Targeted pruning can address branches near roofs, gutters, and siding while considering the tree’s structure and future growth.

Garden and waterfront planning

Planting beds, patios, slopes, and shoreline vegetation help determine where equipment can travel and where branches can be lowered.

Confined yard access

Side gates, shared driveways, and limited staging space affect the plan. Share access measurements and photos when requesting an estimate.

From concern to cleanup

A clear estimate and a plan for your property

Your estimate should explain the tree work, access plan, and cleanup you are paying for. Tree size and condition, proximity to buildings, equipment needs, and the amount of material to remove all influence cost. Ask to include stump grinding or additional hauling if those are part of your project.

Before regulated work: Madison Park is within Seattle. Confirm applicable approvals, public notices, and provider registration requirements with Seattle SDCI before regulated tree work. Street trees have separate SDOT permit requirements; waterfront or critical-area conditions may also affect the scope.

Local questions, clear answers

Madison Park tree service FAQs

How much does tree removal in Madison Park cost?
The cost depends on tree size, condition, proximity to homes and utilities, yard access, equipment, and debris handling. A tree behind a house may require a different approach from one beside an open driveway. Request a free estimate and specify whether you want stump grinding or wood hauling included.
Can you remove a tree in a small yard or near a house?
We can evaluate trees close to homes, fences, and gardens. Where there is no open drop zone, removal in sections with controlled lowering may be appropriate. The plan depends on tree stability, access, equipment space, and applicable approvals.
Do I need approval to remove a tree in Madison Park?
Seattle’s tree protection requirements apply in Madison Park. Approval depends on factors such as tree size, species, property zoning, development activity, and critical-area conditions. Public notice and provider registration requirements can apply even when separate approval is not needed. Confirm the requirements for your tree with Seattle SDCI before scheduling removal.
Can you prune trees to improve a Lake Washington view?
We can discuss selective pruning on your property for view and clearance goals. Recommendations consider tree health, ownership, and applicable restrictions. View improvement does not authorize cutting trees on neighboring or public property. A site review helps establish an appropriate scope.
Can you work on a street tree in front of my home?
Trees in the public right-of-way follow Seattle SDOT requirements, which are separate from private-property tree rules. Confirm ownership, permit requirements, and the provider’s applicable registration before arranging pruning or removal. Include the tree’s location when requesting an estimate.
Is stump grinding included with tree removal?
Stump grinding is included when it is specified in your estimate. Grinding, hauling grindings, backfilling, and replanting are separate tasks. Tell us about gate width, irrigation, and known underground utilities so we can evaluate access and define the work.
What should I do about a storm-damaged tree?
Keep people and vehicles away from damaged trees and hanging branches. Call 425-374-8996 to discuss the situation and availability. If utility lines are involved, stay clear and contact the utility. Call 911 for an immediate threat to life.
Do you serve other Seattle neighborhoods?
Western Hemlock serves properties across Seattle as well as Madison Park. Send your exact address when requesting an estimate so we can confirm availability and plan the visit. You can also see our Seattle tree service page for broader service information.

Western Hemlock Tree took down several trees that were ~200 feet and were within 20-30 feet of the house. They climbed and cut down the tree in segments, and were even able to retain a stump and tree house without damaging it. They did it methodically and efficiently, handled the debris, and cut everything into manageable rounds. They also completely managed the city permitting process, and planting requirements. Everything was fully discussed and clear before work was agreed to and started. Thank you for the great work!

Great experience working with the professional Western Hemlock team on a challenging project to remove and prune several 100+ ft trees on a residential lot. Brandon provided a detailed assessment, answered all questions, and worked directly with the city to secure approval to proceed. Marc and crew are highly skilled and amazingly precise as they worked together in very close proximity to power lines, our home and our neighbor’s. It’s art in motion. Clean up terrific as well. Highly recommend!

Marc and his crew did a fantastic job. They were on-time, professional, and friendly. They removed two large trees (>30ft) and two additional tree stumps. They did such a great job, they made it look like the trees were never there to begin with. I will definitely work with Western Hemlock , Marc and his crew again!
